Open Swim

Hannah is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who recently arrived in Ithaca after playing in the Florida jam band scene for the last six years. She is inspired by women-fronted 70s rock bands and artists  (Fleetwood mac, Heart, Siouxie and the Banshees, Joan Jett, Janis Joplan), contemporary jam and psychedelic rock bands (Goose, Khruangbin), powerful female pop vocalists who aren't afraid to be super real/graphic in their songwriting (Lady Gaga, Remi Wolf, Miley Cyrus, Kim Petras), Latin rock and Jazz, and sometimes dark wave goth rock when she's feeling extra. Hannah loves writing catchy and honest songs about everything from nature, to mental health, to relationships, to R E V E N G E. She is pumped to be playing with an amazingly talented group of musicians in Open Swim and is ready to shake up the Ithaca music scene with something new!

Meet PJ. He believes in catchy songs, good attitudes, and little else. He's spent 10 years cutting multiple sets of shark teeth in the Brooklyn DIY scene and now he's as happy as a clam to be a hipster out of water / PBR in Ithaca. He plays guitar and brings a throwback hipster vibe to the band with subtle, down-to-earth thefts from bands like #PavementBand, #WolfParadeBand, and all that other stuff. Stay tuned, kiddos. And hop in, the water is #fine. 

Tony is a bassist who unleashes his sonic fury with a mix of groovy rhythms and explosive riffs. He is always on the hunt for new musical adventures and loves to blend different genres and styles in his bass playing. His influences span from the funky rock of Red Hot Chili Peppers, the classic hip hop of A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots, the grunge rock of Nirvana, and funk legends Parliament and Funkadelic. He has rocked the stage with various bands for 15 years across the country, from San Antonio, TX to Buffalo, NY. Now he is ready to shake the ground with Open Swim in Ithaca, NY.

Knock knock. Who’s there? Will’s there. Will who? I’m so glad you asked. Will’s the only drummer in the soon-to-be critically acclaimed music-making band Open Swim. Will brings over 25 years of drumming experience to the role, making him the most experienced drummer in the band at the moment. With experience in bands ranging from pop punk and ska to steel drum and americana, he channels his musical influences like Animal from the Muppets and the many drummers of Spinal Tap to bring an eclectic sound to the band. He also smiles a lot while he plays. So sit back, relax, and prepare to be whelmed by the drummer some critics are calling “the current drummer in Open Swim”.
